My mother, Sue Morton, worked on the Columbia in the mid 70's. I am proud to say that as a boy I had my turn at the helm of the Columbia under the watchful eye of Capt Beattie. He was a great man and always so kind to me. It always amazed me how Capt. Beattie and "Tex" Stansfield could kiss the dock so smoothly in any weather. When I saw pictures of the Columbia in it's state of disrepair I almost cried. I see that it might be restored and run on the Hudson in New York. Boy would my mother be surprised if she could take a ride on the Columbia again.

WOW what a flash from the past! I worked at the Detroit Ticket office during summers of 1977-1981. What GREAT fun and GREAT people-Ralph Browning, Bill Browning, Ginny, Anne Campbell, Mary Davies, Linda Diehl and of course the Detroit COPS-Jerry Flannery, Bob Ellison, Phil, Terry and ZEE!!!! Where are all of you? Haven't seen you guys since our 1980 Xmas Party that lasted 23 hours-SO MANY GOOD TIMES!! I would love to hear from anyone who sees this!

Worked as a ticket taker/concession boy at Detroit dock in '50s. There used to be a list of us guys posted on this site and most all of the old named folks are missing. Worked many trips and moolights. Great memories.

Boblo was the best summer I ever had. My own daughter, now 14, thinks that working at an amusement park was so awesome. I was a ride operator in zone 3 (I think)back in 1986/1987. We had some cool rides at Boblo! I've rarely been back to Amherstburg, let alone Boblo Island. It would be interesting to see what they did to the Island.

My dad Ken Coffin worked in the food service for several years until his passing in 1984. I sold tickets for the island until its closing at an outside outlet.

I worked on the island from 1987-1993. I started as a ride op in zone 1 (kiddie land) then zone 4 (log flume, coaster, rotor, etc). I became a manager in 1990 and worked as a ride manger until the island closed in 1993.
I visited the island last year for the first time since it closed...it was heartbreaking. The former park area had almost a ghost-like feel to it and it was sad to see it empty and deserted.
I still remember working on Boblo as one of the happiest times in my life!

Hello everybody!! I was the girl who took pictures of people riding the elephant ride back in the early 1970's. My Dad was the guy with the go-tee & the polaroid camera that walked around on the Moonlight Cruise in the 1960's & 1970's shooting pictures of couples on the Moonlight Cruise. His name was Joe Stevens. If anybody remembers him or me, I'd love to hear from you. Right now I am listing the photograph's that he shot of Bob-lo on your very own bobloboat.com website in the ship store so that I can contribute money toward the restoration project. I think my Dad would've liked that. We still adding more pictures and more sizes.
